I hardly ever get sick. However, this weekend was the exception. I started coughing Thursday and I have honestly not stopped. It's not that I feel horrible, I just can't quit coughing. I did go to Walgreens today to buy some cough syrup. I got home and realized that I had bought the sugar free kind. Could I have gotten anything that tastes nastier? I'm usually not that big on taking meds. I really don't know why. My biology teacher once said 10 days with meds, you're likely to get better. 10 days without meds, you're likely to get better. I've always kinda stuck with that. It has seemed to work for me so far. But...I bought the cough syrup. Maybe it will help. Needless to say, my weekend has consisted of coughing, watching my babies, coughing, trying to clean up after a 2and 1 year old, coughing, and more coughing.
After the boys went to sleep, I did manage to sneak a bath in. This was the first bath I have had in forever! Pretty relaxing. Better yet...the best movie was on television! Even after the long soak, I still feel like I smell like a Vick's cough drop. How hot is that!!

and it started with a pineapple
As you may know, I am the most uninteresting person ever. I live just a pretty simple life. The weekends are cleary not any different. My weekend started with a pineapple. The pineapples were on sale...so I bought one. Who doesn't love fresh pineapple? Well, my husband doesn't...but that's beside the point. I thought my boys will love this. So, I bought one. I don't think Silas has ever seen a real/fresh pineapple before it was cut. Of course the teacher in me came out. We talked about how prickly it was and how it felt. Then we cut the top and sides off and talked about the inside. Weird, but we really had the best time. We had probably eaten half of it just snacking while we were chopping it. Not very eventful, but fun all the same. Yes, that is the cut up pineapple in my hand. And yes, that is Silas, playing with a roll of paper towels.
Our trip to the Chinese place- Silas loved loved loved watching the fish. I personally think it is the nastiest thing ever.
Of course we had to get fortune cookies. I'm not all that impressed with the taste but you have to get them all the same. Silas, on the other hand, ate all four of them. He was lovin him some fortune cookies.
Here were our fortunes:
Jason's
Mine
Silas's
Joe's

Would you like some spaghetti to go with that piercing?
Let's talk about nose piercings. I personally think that they are cool. Would I ever get one? Probably not. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't think about it. Back in December, my sister and I went to get our noses pierced. Okay...the piercer wasn't in that night (luckily) and we couldn't get it done. I am sooooo thankful, because what in the world was I thinking? My sister on the other hand, not very thrilled. I told her that she could get it done some other time. Well...tonight was that some other time. Since she is only 17, she had to have her parent's permission. My mom said that she would sign for her to have it done. Here we go. We loaded up and went to the tatoo place to get Kota's nose pierced. She was so excited and I was too! She was actually going to get it done. Yay! On the way of course we had to take goofy pictures. Girls will be girls!
When we arrived at the place, Kota was starting to get a little nervous. She was very brave though. We were the only ones there besides the piercer. Quite a character! Kota filled out all of the paper work. My mother signed the things she needed. It was great. He (the piercer) was nice, but I think he was probably feeling "aww-rite" if you know what I mean. We went back to the room and Kota sat on the little table thing. The guy got all of the supplies he needed out of a locker. I was laughing like the whole time. I don't know why though. My mom and Kota were like, "Stop laughing, you need Ritalin" and I was like literally getting in trouble. So I got control and held Kota's hand. While the guy was getting his things ready and starting to clamp on Kota's nose, he just starts talking. Here was the conversation:
Guy: I think I'm going to have spaghetti tonight.
Me: Really. That sounds good. Maybe you can have a little french bread, a salad...
Guy: No salad...I think just spaghetti.
(Keep in mind...he is clamping Kota's nose and about to put the needle in.)
Me: Spaghetti and a glass of tea. That sounds pretty good.
Guy: But I think I'll do laundry first.
Me: Yeah...you could always do a load of laundry then eat. Use a little Tide, a little Downy.
Kota: (breathing in)
Guy: You know...my ex-wife offered to do my laundry yesterday. I didn't take her up on that though.
Me: I don't know that I blame you. It could probably get ugly letting your ex-wife do your laundry.
Kota: eeeek. (not loudly...just enough for the guy and me to hear)
Guy: Yeah...all my stuff would probably turn out pink.
Me: Of course it would turn out pink.
I kid you not. That was the actual conversation we had while Kota was getting her nose pierced. Crazy, I know. It's all true! Kota did great though. She was just listening to our spaghetti/tide-downy conversation and squeezing my hand. She is such an awesome girl! See what I mean about him feeling kinda loopy. You just never know. And I let him stick a needle through my sister's nose!

His ears are lowered!
My sweet little Silas was way overdue for a hair cut. (Sweet..Silas....please.) If I've heard it once, I've heard it 1,000 times..."When you gonna get that boy's hair cut?" I finally broke down and made an appointment with Kim for Monday. I must admit, most days he did look pretty shaggy. Silas did great though. He was pretty excited about getting his hair cut. I don't really think he understood what was happening. When he turned to look in the mirror, he just started cheesing it! He started making all kinds of funny faces and just checked himself out in the mirror! I told him he looked good. His reply was, "I look cool!" How does a 2 year old know about "coolness"? He's got it right though. He is the coolest 2 year old I know.
